Link from NPR!

So I'm looking at the statistics for the website and I very quickly notice that I'm getting a lot more hits than usual - about double the traffic. There's one URL at NPR.org that shows up a lot in the logs. I check it and sure enough, there's a small link to my Frumenty recipe partway down the page.

This is the coolest link since I got one from the BBC website!

Hurrah--That's excellent!!

Speaking of warm, soft comfort foods, I got a recipe over Christmas for a black rice pudding I'm dying to try out:

1 cup black rice
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 can coconut milk
pinch of salt

Cover and simmer rice, 2 cups water, and 1 cup coconut milk on low heat for 45 minutes. Add sugar, salt, and remaining coconut milk, then simmer uncovered 30 minutes, and let it rest for 20 minutes before serving.

It can be topped with toasted sesame seeds, mint leaves or mango slices.

I shall report back once we've tried it!

Yum!

I'll have to pick up some black rice to try this out.

Where did this recipe come from? It sounds a bit like a Thai dish.

Interestingly, if you substitute almond milk for the coconut milk, it's very close to a 15th century English dish:
